You typically wouldn’t gain that much muscle from only doing yoga 15-30 minutes per day for a month. I cannot say though if your past medical issues and low muscle mass may have something to do with it, if it really gets to be a concern for you maybe speak to your doctor since they have knowledge of your medical history and could provide some more educated insight. However, over time is is very possible to gain a significant amount of muscle from yoga; I’m 24 years old and I’ve gained a lot of muscle from yoga, so it’s definitely not your age! However, I do 1.5-2 hours of advanced ashtanga and vinyasa daily, plus I have a relatively low body fat percentage.
I generally do the entire program but I love the fact that it can also be done as four separate workouts (and although one targets legs and one targets abs, trust me when I say that you will feel your entire body engaged in these segments!).

The general rule is not to eat within 3 hours before class, but if you’re famished, eat something light and bland like Saltine crackers; a couple should curb the hunger pangs. Personally, I don’t recommend nuts, chocolate, soy lattes, flavoured crisps, or sushi, to be eaten within the two hours before practice. I’ve tried it and regretted it.
Control of your mind is what Yoga is about. You have to involve your mind in the Asana. Asana is an instrument to Yoga. Body postures, maintenance and rounds of an asana are to be done according to one’s own capacity. Retention is more desirable than repetition. Meditation cannot be separated from Yoga.
You don’t want to further stress yourself out by trying to jam yoga into your schedule, however. If you can’t fit in or afford a ton of yoga sessions, try flowing, breathing exercises on your own time and in your own tranquil space.

I love Pilates! I’ve tried the traditional Pilates on the floor or atop a reformer grounded on the floor, but never attached to the wall like they have it at Burn. I prefer the layout at Burn because it reduces the time and weight I put onto my wrists, which are weak for me.

It’s also a pretty good calorie burner, with many of the challenging poses getting the heart rate up and can end up quite a sweaty workout. This is particularly true for Bikram yoga, but how many calories does hot yoga burn and is it more effective than other styles of yoga when it comes to burning calories?
How to perform it: You need to come to your fours and form a table. Now, exhale and lift up your hips. Straighten your legs and your arms to form an inverted ‘V’ shape. Keep your toes pointed straight ahead. Your hands should be shoulder-width apart. Look towards your naval. Hold this position for a minute and take long breaths. Now, return to your original position. Repeat this pose five times.
In order to do this, lie on the floor or on a mat. Keep your hands by your side in such a manner that the palm touches the ground. Slowly raise your lower body upwards (body from the hips region). Hold the pose for a while. You can feel the stretch in your torso region which will help reduce belly fat.
Nice class but for a workout I prefer the shorter classes that focus on upper or lower body. Had high hopes for this being an all over workout in an under an hour class but left feeling like it was spread too thin over upper, lower body and abs.

Although cardio exercises burn more calories than yoga, which makes them better for weight loss and fat loss, yoga workouts have separate benefits.
