Probably 90% of my workouts include planks of either regular or side variety. The mats at my gym seem to get slippery when I’m sweaty and doing them, so in order not to slip and fall flat on my face I put my towel down underneath my arms. This was a good strength workout. I will definitely be doing this again. Felt it is arms, legs and core and was left feeling pleasantly shaky. Celeste s positive and friendly guidance really helped me push through. I would have liked some more yoga based exercises but I can see how this will really help in my overall practice.
During my visit in SF my friend invited me to come to a Burn class with her so I tagged along. She wasn’t able to let me use one of her passes of her 10 or 20 pass package but I was able to attend the class for something like $12 as a first timer. I’ve never done any Pilates springboard class before but the instructor was really attentive and helps you set everything up. There’s a lot of stuff that goes on that board haha. The class is kinda like short circuits using the springs, a bit of in place cardio, burpees, weights, etc. You’ll definitely break a sweat, but I was expecting something a little more challenging. The music they play is great and upbeat. Also at the end of every class everyone wipes down their own area with antibacterial wipes. Definitely a plus. They have cubbies upstairs for you to put your belongings in, but it’s not like a locker and everything’s out in the opened. Also the class doesn’t require any shoes.
Last night I attended the Restorative Yoga class and I was extremely disappointed. Simply put, it was a waste of time and money. It was 90 minutes of basic breathing and a very minimal amount of amateur stretching (only the legs) using a useless strap (and some bolsters). I thought there would be some guidance into how each movement (of which there were basically only two) effects our (restorative) energy but there was none of that. This class is an insult to anyone who takes their physical/mental health seriously!
