Notice how during the first 20 minutes of class, the heart rates are very similar. This is because both classes begin with very similar vinyasa flows. After approximately 20 minutes, the YOGA BODY BOOTCAMP class diverges into four circuits of five stations. Included in each circuit is a balance station during which heart rate drops. These four circuits are visible in the four blue colored humps in the data after the 20 minute mark. Using this data and our formulas for measuring calories burned, we find our test subject burned approximately 705 calories during the class. The current model of yoga practice in this country offer practitioners like Elizabeth a few choices: push through the pain, adapt your posture to compensate around the pain, or avoid certain postures or yoga styles altogether.
Baptiste power yoga performed in 90-degree rooms and other types of power yoga practiced in heated rooms keep the body moving throughout the duration of the class and include challenging postures and sequences that get the heart rate up. You’ll burn a significant amount of calories in these heated classes. But other classes performed in heated rooms, such as yin or restorative yoga, do not get your heart rate up enough to burn the calories that will result in fat loss.
Keep holding this position for at least five minutes and then repeat the same procedure for the left side of your body. If you don’t feel comfortable during this exercise, then please don’t perform this exercise.
