It’s a vinyasa class that we slow down by slowing down the pace of the breath, and we also dim the lights and invite students to keep their eyes closed. As you can imagine, this adds an interesting challenge for balance, so the flows are way more grounded and the focus is on taking your awareness more deeply inward, so you can really connect with the experience of moving and breathing in your own body without worrying about what you might look like or what anyone else in the room is up to.

The Doctors had two young women, Taylor and Suzann, test our resistance workout pants on their show. They ran for about a mile, both with regular yoga pants and then with Physiclo resistance gear, while monitoring their caloric burn. The result? We’re now on our 3rd week of Phase 2 and doing well. Mark has a naturally low metabolism (with a pulse of 50, resting) and his pulse goes up to 80 during most of the workouts (15 minutes wouldn’t be bad, but doing them 3 times, wow, that’s a workout of cardiac proportions if I know anything about working out!). Mine is 80, resting and it hits 140 to 150 by the end of the workout! We’re sweating like pigs! I have slimmed down a good bit, getting into waisted skirts that I couldn’t get into prior to the Yoga-Burn 6 weeks ago!
The majority of the yoga sequences are only 15-minutes long, repeated 3x over. Since the same 3 videos are intended to be practices for the duration of the month, the lack of variety may turn you off.
Shake up your routine. I did this recently by attending a class with my BFF Chanel Luck at Sports Club/LA in Boston. Since we both teach and juggle a variety of work projects, it’s very rare that we can attend each other’s classes. Hers was like salve to my yoga burnout, and it brought the love back. Removing the sources of stress will put the brakes on burnout, but that alone won’t necessarily bring your body, mind, and spirit back into balance. At the very least, you’ll have to stop ignoring what your body is telling you—slow down, take a break, go to sleep now.
