Today we start with my favorite yoga DVD.  Rodney Yee’s Daily Yoga.  I bought it on amazon.com for $6.55.  What a deal! I used it 2-3 times a week while training for the Chicago Marathon and have absolutely gotten my money out of it.
I love Pilates! I’ve tried the traditional Pilates on the floor or atop a reformer grounded on the floor, but never attached to the wall like they have it at Burn. I prefer the layout at Burn because it reduces the time and weight I put onto my wrists, which are weak for me.
Gynecomastia is caused because of excessive breast tissue. Pseudogynecomastia is caused because of excessive fat in the chest part. A doctor can diagnose if it is gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia just by rubbing your chest area to search for any rubbery or firm area around your nipples. If there is nothing abnormal your chest fat is pseudogynecomastia. The treatment for pseudogynecomastia is very effective with yoga.
Plank exercises are the basis for building a strong core and six pack abs but how to reduce inner thigh fat with planks? Well, this particular plank variation targets the inner thighs along with the arms, chest, core, and glutes.
I’ve visited this studio a few times now and it kicks my butt every time! I sort of hate the cardio intervals, but doing them each time makes me realize how much I desperately need them. The leg stretches are fantastic though and I could probably do them for hours. I love how fast-paced it all is, even though it’s unbearable at times. Absolutely worth it though. You definitely get your time and money’s worth.
Muscles metabolize calories when they are stimulated. One pound of muscle metabolizes 35 – 50 calories every 24 hours. However, the more muscle used, the greater the stimulation, and in turn the more calories required. In running, you use approximately 25% of the body’s muscles. That 25% is only put through about 15% of its range of motion. That is: 15% X 25% = 3.75% of the body’s muscle cells being stimulated by running. Calories are burned because of the duration and repetition of that exercise.
There are a ton of 7 Minute Workout apps available in the App Store, but Wahoo Fitness’ app does an amazing job of keeping it crisp and simple. View an outline of the workout or watch the video examples then perform the workout with the countdowns for each exercise and break. There is even voice prompting so that you don’t have to look at the TV screen, but why wouldn’t you?
Have not worked out how I take the audio files on ipod or phone and will have to find out from my kids how to do this. Would be awesome to do it outside in nature. Definitely on my bucket list. More info: http://bit.ly/2IgehmE

I do Bikram yoga and often wear my HRM (despite it distracting me constantly). My class is 90 minutes long and my HRM typically reads 400-600 calories burned by the end of class. I weigh 141 with 18.6% body fat, and I know different people burn at different rates based on those parameters. In a normal yoga class I burn more like 200-250. Make sure you have all of your settings up to date on your HRM. Keep up the yoga! Think of it as a toning workout rather than a cardio workout if that helps; you’re building muscle so you can burn more calories every minute of every day

I recommend doing an overseas yoga program. You meet yogis from all walks of life, and I think having a variety of people helped me grow even more over the course of the month. I considered doing a training in Washington, DC, which would have been a weekend program held over several months, but I think I got more out of traveling far away and completely immersing myself. I now have a new family spread all across the globe.
The task of controlling the felt temperature of a hot room is not trivial. Most of our studios have automated systems that are constantly working to maintain a stable heat index. These systems monitor heat and humidity and based on the measurements adjust the furnace and humidifier in real time. Of course heat and humidity are always escaping the room so as the furnace and the humidifier adjust, there can be ±8° swings from desired heat index. Compounding the felt temperature issue is that the amount of humidity impacts the density of the air and less dense air decreases air flow. A ceiling fan or furnace blower spinning at a constant rate will push more air the greater the air density. Unfortunately for felt temperature as humidity decreases density increases. So as the humidity goes down the fans are more effective. And as we learned the more air moving across our skin the easier it is for our sweat to evaporate and cool us. So a room cooling via a reduction in humidity will feel extra cool because of increased air flow which improves our bodies cooling ability.
